Indian Fix!

A simple celebration turns out to be a blast! A week before my birthday, I invited the "chupachups gang" to have dinner to celebrate the 27 years of my existence is this happy but crazy world. I wanted something simple but different; I also want a quaint place that's good for dining and conversation. And I found this, Indian Restaurant in Tagaytay.

That afternoon of October 2, we met up at Glorietta. And as usual three creatures were late! I, Melvin and Gab hopped ourselves into Lester's car and a road trip is set to happen again. Funny thing was, even before we left Makati we got into a little trouble and found ourselves with two Ayala guards, because of a traffic violation. But after a couple of minutes with some bucks out of our pocket and discovered the acting prowess of Lester we continued the journey. There was another roadblock, THE TRAFFIC! Do I need to tell more about it? Nah, I don’t want to…

When craving strikes!

It was Sunday yesterday and was just sitting infront of the tv, laptop and my phones. My tastebuds were kinda looking for something streetfood! I'm a fan of street food. Back when i was in college, i always wait for kwek-kwek, kikiam, squidballs and fishballs. In the streets of U-belt i always find myself eating these yummy treat!

Yesterday, i got my streetfood fix. For P45 i got a bag of kikiam and squid balls. Fried it! And made some spicy sweet and sour sauce! Match it with soda, the best! My mom and sister got their share of my street food fix! Yum yum!

Sweet & Goodies

Perfect match with a hot cappuccino or warm chamomile tea. Before we head and have a night cup,i dropped by to Sweets and Goodies and grabbed my favorite carrot cake. I didn't bother how much was it all i knew was I'm ready for a treat! The cake is oh so yummy, it's chewy and chunky plus it is not too sweet.

Dome Cafe

After having a feast at Fish & Co., we decided to have coffee and tea at Dome Cafe. I had chamomile tea and all of them had cappuccino. I like having tea after a huge and heavy meal, so calming and will tend to make u feel that you are not so full. Although i had to match it with a dessert, a carrot cake.

Fish & Co.

Late afternoon last Tuesday, I decided to satisfy my gastronomic appetite for sea edibles. It wasn’t our first choice because there were other restaurants around which also serve good selection of seafood. But today, I get to be the boss =)

CBTL: Sansrival

My sister was oh so sweet! She handed me over a covered Tupperware right when I arrived from work one night. I asked, "What is this?" She then uttered, "Just open it." And so I did! When I opened the canister, to my surprise is a slice of Sans rival from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! I instantly grabbed a spoon and dogged into it before even having dinner.

Sans rival from CBTL is P135/slice. It may seem over the top but with its taste, it deserves a big applause! Butter content is just enough, the dough’s not tough, cashew nuts gave it a crunch and the over all experience was heavenly! Another yummy treat! Thanks to my beloved sister!

CBTL: Banana Chocolate and Honey-bran Muffin

I can't remember the exact date when I splurged into something realllllllly good. All I could remember was, it was a busy morning at work. I was so helpless together with a number of my colleagues and it seemed like work was forever. *Sigh!*

To break the spell, here’s what I did: Went down the building and treated myself a large Chocó-banana iced blended drink and honey-bran muffin at Coffee Bean & Tea leaf. Went up again after, took a few inhales and exhales and of course took a picture of my comfort food that morning and worked like hell for the rest of my effin shift.

In Pursuit of the Seattle's Best 2010 Planner

This might be too late to post since it is already the 2nd month of 2010; nonetheless, I think it is still worth blogging. It was almost the end of December when a good friend asked for my help, to complete the Seattle's Best card in exchange of a 2010 planner. Since I already have my own planner from another popular coffee chain, my good heart went all the way for my good friend. Laughs! Used to love Seattle’s best since I used to hang out here almost every day back when I was in college.

Indeed, every time we hangout instead of going to other chill places, we spent time at Seattle’s Best. I can’t really remember how many stickers we needed to get the planner but good thing was it includes not only the Christmas drinks but also regular drinks and freshly made meals. If I could remember it right, I went to this coffee chain 4 or 5 times to get some coffee or something just to get stickers from.

Then one night, we were just supposed to grab some coffee but my friend told me that if we were to get drinks there will be 3 more stickers we need to complete then we’d get the planner. So I asked my friend what the plan is. We better order some food to get the planner. And so we did!!! We ordered two of their Christmas drinks, a clubhouse sandwich, and ham and cheese omelet with French toasts and pancakes with maple syrup. We were not that hungry! Laughs!!!

In all honesty, I love their food-- fresh and very yummy! I’m sorry but I can’t remember the price anymore. But I guarantee you, if you will try their food, every bite is worth the penny! We went out of the coffee shop burping plus my friend was able to get the planner which was the main reason why we went there! Two thumbs up for Seattle’s Best Coffee.

Keema Keema!

On a Friday night, the most that you want to do is to chill! It is the last work week day and we want to unwind and just relax or hype up with your good buds! That's what I did last Friday. It's a booze night for me and my drinking buds!
There is this place that's been gaining its popularity now. A complex that consists of bars which offer good food, bar chow, alcoholic drinks and good music! We were supposed to drink at this bar (CENTRAL) our favorite but what the heck! The place is jam-packed! What the hell was I thinking, it is Friday night! So we walked around and found this place called Keema Keema...
Keema Keema is an open air drinking place, as the name suggests it is themed as Persian style. One will not notice that it is Persian themed bar since it is not visible with their interiors. But once you gaze upon their menu you will find out that it is a Persian themed bar.
We were seated at a corner since that was the only table available. I started looking at their menu and found an interesting drink by the pitcher; Fruit flavored Gin with your choice of lemon, apple, grapes, pineapple and orange and pomelo. One pitcher is P120 but they have a deal for P150 they will add a bar chow, your choice either garlic mushrooms, Persian nachos, tofu, or nuts. I did choose garlic mushrooms. The drinks came, I chose apple flavored gin. At first, I was skeptical what the taste will be but I had a chance to taste the garlic mushroom first and quite frankly I didn’t like it. Mushroom was not cook properly so it tasted like a bit raw and it garlic was not prominent as I dig into it. Next stop, I had a shot of the drink, ohhhh !!!!! There was a kick, a kick like I drunk a cough syrup! Yeah, it tasted like a cough syrup! I was so disappointed! I also had a chance to taste their Beef Shawarma (P80), pita bread wrapped with beef, tomatoes, inions, cucumber topped with garlic sauce. I was kind of frustrated because it was served cold even the pita bread! The beef was fine; it was tasty but a bit chewy. The moment we were able to try these, we were regretting why we went to this place…

Gin flavored apple (P120)

garlic mushroom (P65)

I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered a Persian nachos (P65), hhhhmmmm something new as the name suggest. To my dismay, the food arrived! 10-piece pita bread cut into triangle shape topped with tomatoes and in the middle ground pork. What kind of nachos is this? Yeah, Persian nachos! I tried a couple of it, oooppppsss! I don’t like it! The ground pork doesn’t even have a taste I did put some of the garlic sauce but it didn’t help at all. So I stopped eating it! Lastly, I ordered grilled hotdog (P22). The moment I tasted it, I freaked out!!! It’s not even pure foods TJ nor Swift! I was so disgusted with all of these; we just forced ourselves to finish the entire pitcher and paid the bill.

Persian Nachos (P65)

I was tipsy because I’m not a gin drinker but I wish I got drunk so ill forget that we were once in this place that offers nothing but a mess. Perhaps if I would have tried their buckets of beer with a cigarette as my beer match I would have enjoyed but past is past. I will just forget that there is this bar called Keema Keema!
The total amount I spent P409 and the rating .1 out 5. Do I need to explain why?? I guess not! So i ended up going home early and had a busted Friday night, laughs!

Brother's Burger

It's lunch time (yeah! had my lunch past 2pm..) I usually bring my packed lunch so i would not spend too much and stay away from those fast food edibles. I was about to have my lunch when one of the colleague invited me to have lunch out, i reluctantly said yes! So there you go, i kept my food untouched!

We went down of the building then walk few steps and found ourselves in Brother's Burger! Yes, Brother's Burger! I instantly recall that last Tuesday, i was dying to eat at Wham Burger but on my way to this Burger chain, another restaurant fooled me (Secret Recipe) so instead of eating my favorite burger to my dismay i had a so so Asian cuisine. That's the main reason i didn't refused my friends offer! Whheeeee excited!

I quickly suggested my friend (Yazz) to try their strawberry milkshake(P100). It's a must try! I had Brother's Burger(P105), Onion rings(P60) and soda(P40). The burger was a bit small for its price but the taste was oh so yummy! I instantly, opened number of ketchup sachets and mayonnaise and grabbed my first bite! And i couldn't just stop! Onion rings were big and crunchy! Good match with warm and tender burger! My friend ordered the same burger and strawberry milkshake! She was not disappointed and enjoyed my suggestion of trying the milk shake.

Overall rating 4 out of 5! The food was great and the price is reasonable but cleanliness was not impressive, there was just like 6 customers but the tables were not clean and the floor was dirty!

CBTL: Toblerone Cheese Cake

Craving for something heavenly??? you dessert fanatics, you don't wanna miss out on this one! Toblerone Cheese Cake, a dessert you definitely wanna miss! I was able to get the chance to taste this heavenly dessert yesterday afternoon. This treat is available at all The Coffee bean and Tea leaf branches for P135/slice. A different kind of cheesecake: the first layer would be the cheese that melts into your mouth, the second layer is a mousse like consistency and the top part of the cake provides texture which is the toblerone and crushed chocolate cookie, i think!

A must try for you dessert fanatics! YUM!

**forgive me about the bad picture, the cake was sliced already and accidentally turned upside down...promise to take better pictures in the future. Laughs!

A so so Secret Recipe..

It was my mom's birthday last January 26 and i wasn't able to buy a present for her days before because i was busy with a lot of things (nah! what an excuse..) But anyway, that afternoon i decided to go out and buy something for my beloved mom. I went to Shangri-la Plaza in Mandaluyong to look for a perfect give that would fit my budget.

Around 5:30 PM when i got there, i quickly moved so i would be able to find that perfect gift for her. So.....after an hour for looking around at Rustan's, exhausted and with feet aching i started to feel that i need to eat. I then, thought of eating at Wham's Burger (i love burgers by the way). But while walking towards the food chain (2nd to the last level of the mall if i'm correct), a restaurant caught my attention and so i changed my mind.
I started looking at their menu outside the restaurant then all of a sudden found myself seating on one of their pretty comfortable couches.

The Secret Recipe, a restaurant which caters to people who has cravings for Asian fusion cuisine. Basically, the interior was very great! Free wi-fi is a plus plus for me!

The menu...there's a wide selection of Asian Fusion Cuisine, cakes and beverages from juices, shakes and coffee. But to my surprise, it is a bit pricey!

Time to dig in..

Mee Gureng, a Malay inspired noodle dish, simple but surprisingly satisfying (P280). My take on their best selling noodle dish as per the waiter, it was just a so so noodle dish, the taste was a bit spicy (a tolerable one!) Serving size was big enough, it has shrimp, squid on it. Mee Gureng is like a yakisoba, so you get what i mean?? The only difference is it has tomato sauce, i think and it's spicy!

I also tried Noodle in Tom Yang Kung (P280), flat rice noodles in our very famous spicy tom yang soup with kung prawns. The soup was great, noodles were cooked perfectly but still spicy. So if you are not a big fan of spicy edibles so go for this one. It has two big prawns in it! Just like any other tom yang soup.

The last but definitely not the least, Watermelon Juice(P90). A freshly squeezed watermelon over ice. Nice treat! I loved it!

Overall damage, P650 without service charge. And my overall rating, 3.5 out of 5. The restaurant is very cozy, a so so taste of the offering and a bit pricey. Next time i wanna try their cakes and coffee concoction.
